Customer Safety Information

Nothing is more important to us than the safety of our customers. Our drivers regularly monitor the performance of our customers systems and make any necessary adjustments to ensure they are safe and efficient. In keeping with our commitment to ongoing training, certification, and testing, each of our employees are certified through the National Propane Gas Association’s Certified Employee Training Program (CETP).

We offer a special each year in the summer for customers to have a safety check completed on their system. At this time, any repairs would be done to keep the system in the upmost operating status.

How do we detect if we have a leak? Propane has an added odorant that makes it smell like rotten eggs, a skunk’s spray, or a dead animal. Some people may have difficulty smelling propane due to their age, a medical condition, or the effects of medication, alcohol, tobacco, or drugs.

If you smell gas:

  • Immediately put out all smoking materials and open flames. Do not operate lights, appliances, telephones, or cell phones. Flames or sparks from these sources can trigger an explosion or a fire.
  • Leave the area immediately! Get everyone out of the building or area where you suspect gas is leaking
  • Shut of the gas. If you are able to, and it is safe to do so, turn off the main gas supply valve on your propane tank.  Turn the valve to the right (clockwise).
  • Report the leak from a neighbor's phone or other nearby building away from the gas leak. Call your propane provider right away, if you cannot reach them, call 911.
  • Do not return the area until your propane retailer, emergency responder, or qualified service technician determines that it is safe to do so.
  • Get your system checked before you attempt to use any of your propane appliances. Make sure they check the entire system to ensure that it is leak-free.
